CAG Summer Teacher Institute and Demonstration School

CAG's Teacher Institute and Summer Demonstration School will take place Monday, July 26th to Wednesday, July 28th at Goleta Valley Junior High School in Goleta, CA.

·         •    What are the most current ideas about how to differentiate curriculum AND instruction?
•    How are differentiated lessons designed and implemented?
•    What are the teaching and learning expectations for a differentiated lesson?

These questions and their answers form the basis of the workshops, seminars and observation classrooms (Novice and Advanced) participants will experience at the Teacher Institute and Demonstration School.

Participants will be able to:
1.     Learn about these and other topics – Depth and Complexity Pathways, Interdisciplinarity, Classics, Current Events, and Dabbling
2.     Create – Differentiated Units of Study
3.     Observe – Master Teachers teach exemplary lessons
4.     Collaborate – Teach side-by-side as an apprentice with Master Teachers

This year CAG will offer TEAM discount rates for groups of 5 or more from one district or one school. All tuition costs have been lowered this year to enable more people to attend. More details will follow. CAG reserves the right to cancel this institute if we do not have a minimum of 50 educators register. You will be notified by July 12th of any change.

CAG's 49th Annual Conference

California Association for the Gifted will hold its annual 3-day conference in Palm Springs, February 25-27, 2011. There will be an optional pre-conference held on Friday, February 25th, from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. There will also be optional classroom observations on Friday. The regular 3-day conference will start at 4:00 pm on Friday, February 25th and end on Sunday, February 27th at 2:30 pm. There will be a special Parents' strand in addition to the regular conference on Sunday from 7:45 am - 2:30 pm. Registration will open in September.

CAG is not accepting proposals for presentations and vendors for the Exhibit Hall. Links to both of these are on CAG's Home Page.
